Young People

You might be looking at our website and wondering

how we can help you?

We support children and young people when someone they love has died or they are going through a difficult time in their life e.g. mum and dad splitting up. You might want to meet one to one with one of our trained workers or you might want to meet in a group with other young people who have gone through a similar experience to you.

Support Sessions

FAQ

Here are some answers to questions we get asked...

  • How long do I attend?

Our groups last for 10 weeks and 1 to 1 sessions around 10-12 sessions but this can be shorter or longer depending on what support you need.

  • What is counselling?

Counselling is a talking therapy where you meet with a counsellor to talk about issues that are of worry to you. The counsellor will listen to you, will not judge you and will encourage you. Sessions are usually 50 minutes.

  • What is art therapy?

Sometimes we do not know the words for how to express how we are feeling. Art therapy is a form of therapy using art materials to help express your thoughts and feelings with a qualified art therapist. Sessions are usually 60 minutes.

  • What are your groups about?

We offer 10 week groups for up to 8 young people. Some young people prefer to meet in a group rather than one to one sessions as they feel it helps them to be with others their age who have had similar experiences. The group sessions are planned to help you be with others and express your feelings and worries. Sessions are usually 90 minutes.

  • Is your service confidential?

Yes, it is very important that you know that anything you talk about will be confidential. The only exception is if we are worried about you or another young person but we would talk to you about this first.

  • Where do sessions take place?

Sessions will take place in a safe and private room at The Miracle Foundation. We will usually meet on the same day and at the same time every week.
