What is Bereavement?

Bereavement can be described as losing someone who meant a lot to us. It is outlined and followed by grief, which is the process and the range of emotions we go through as we gradually adjust and come to terms with the loss that we have suffered. Losing someone important to us, whether it be a partner, family member, friend or pet can be physically and emotionally devastating.

What is Trauma?

Trauma is an emotional response that is caused by experiencing a single incident or a series of distressing or traumatic emotional or psychological events. These events can include all types of abuse, a bad accident, rape or other sexual violence, war, natural disaster and many more. When an individual experiences these events, they may have an emotional response which can be defined as trauma. Trauma can be experienced mentally and physically and can at any age and time in an individual’s life.
